We will be going to Puma Rumi in Ecuador, on the very edge of the Amazon Forest. Our expedition is 2 weeks long and project based, meaning the group’s focus task will be to help the Puma Rumi community – usually this is done by reinforcing the infrastructure of their village to better their lives.
This year, we will be putting together a water filter for the community, bringing pure, clean water to the people of Puma Rumi for the first time!
Puma Rumi is an indigenous community in Ecuador, South America, close to a town called Tena. The people of Puma Rumi are quite impoverished, and do not have access to certain luxuries we deem as necessary, such as easy and consistent access to food, clothes, hygiene products, etc. They have just recently acquired a water system (thanks to World Challenge 2009).

- Previous Expeditions:
2009: Piped water to the community for the first time
2011: Previous school was made of rotting bamboo and local authorities said it unfit for kids, so the students built a new school for them in 10 days
2012: School was tiled, as previous floor was simply earth, and water piping was extended to the school so kids could have access to water
